Norman’s Produce is a small family owned business located in Saluda, Virginia, just outside of the state capital of Richmond. Tim Norman grew up in Hanover, Virginia and was a home builder in his previous life. Nichole Norman grew up in nearby Henrico, Virginia and has worked in Sales and Marketing for the past 25 years.
So how do a home builder and a marketing executive decide to open a produce stand? Tim has farmed most of his life beginning with his father, who always had a huge garden that Tim had to help with each summer and fall. As an adult he continued to plant each year learning everything that helped to make a garden grow from what to add to the soil to the different types of sprays to use.
Tim grew up with many of the truck farmers in Hanover today, which is where we buy most of our produce from. Our biggest supplier of locally grown produce is Hanover County’s own Dodd’s Acre Farm. Robert Dodd has been farming his entire life and is one of the biggest truck farmers in Virginia. We also get a lot of produce from small local farmers right here in Saluda and Middlesex County.
Along with our fresh, locally sourced produce, you will also find a beautiful selection of flowers and bedding plants for every season. We work with the best growers in the business, which is why our plants are always beautiful and long lasting.
Don’t forget to come inside our “home away from home” where you will find an enticing selection of baked goods delivered twice weekly from Montana Gold Bread Company. In addition, you’ll find a delicious selection of gourmet cheeses, including goat cheese made right here in Saluda from Lover’s Retreat Dairy.
We also carry a large selection of McCutchen’s Jams, jellies and relishes along with Gunther Gourmet salsas. Pies are baked fresh several time a week and delivered to us from Mouth of the South.
Finally, we also carry Amish butter, deviled crabs, soft shell crabs (in season), oysters (in season), and a large selection of wine and micro beers.
We celebrate each season here at Norman’s Produce. Each year when Fall comes around, we have plenty of colorful Mums, a large selection of pumpkins, and gourds. Don’t forget your live Christmas trees, garland, and wreaths. For your holiday spread we have Edward’s Hams and everything you need to decorate for the holiday season.
